Mason Ice Hockey Try-outs on August 31st moved to Ashburn Ice House

Due to construction schedule issues at the PW Ice Center, George Mason’s Ice Hockey team try-outs on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, have been to the Ashburn Ice House.

All try-out candidates must have mailed a completed try-out registration form and mailed the form along with a dues deposit to Coach Hyjek by August 15, 2011.  The form and instructions are available for download at  http://georgemasonhockey.com/player-forms  Players submitting their forms and payment which are received by Coach Hyjek after August 15^th will be assessed an additional $50 try-out fee.

Try-outs will begin with a pre-skate meeting at 10PM, followed by an on-ice session from 1040PM  – 12:00PM.  Candidates will participate in a brief warm-up and be divided into two teams for a scrimmage (with two on-ice officials) during which time players will be assessed by coaches.

Notifications on player selections (with the exception of goalie positions) will be made within 24 hours of the try-outs.  All those selected for the team will be required to complete team, USAH and ACHA forms before participating in the team’s first practice on September 7, 2011.  Rostered players must also have their dues paid in full by September 7, unless otherwise authorized by Coach Hyjek.

First GMU Practice of the Season

George Mason Ice Hockey’s first practice will be on Wednesday, September 7 at the Ashburn Ice House will PW Ice Center construction is completed.  A mandatory post-practice meeting will occur during which time, equipment will be handed out to the team after each player has paid their team dues balance, and completed all paperwork required by Team Manager Ernest Capasso.  Power skating instructor Mike Ansell will put the team through a rigorous work-out before Coaches Hyjek, Elder and Sullivan begin work with the team to prepare for its 2011-12 Blue Ridge Hockey Conference season.  We anticipate being at Ashburn Ice House for three weeks before beginning our regularly schedule practices and games at PW Ice Center in late September.

ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A BLACK HELMET THIS SEASON, SO BE SURE TO HAVE YOURS BY THE 7 SEPTEMBER PRACTICE

GMU Ice Hockey Tryouts

The George Mason Patriots Ice Hockey team prepares for its 2011-12 season with try-outs to be conducted on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Ashburn Ice House in Ashburn, Virginia, as the team awaits the opening of their new home rink at PW Ice Center.  Candidates for the team will be put through the paces prior to participating in a Green vs. Gold scrimmage to evaluate each individual’s game playing abilities and ice awareness.  Try-outs will begin with a pre-skate meeting at 10PM, followed by an on-ice session from 1040PM  – 12:00PM.  Notifications on player selections will be made within 24 hours of the try-outs.  All those selected for the team will be required to complete team, USAH and ACHA forms as well as provide payment for dues (full/payment plan) before participating in the team’s first practice on September 7^th at Ashburn.
