Dylan Talbot

George Mason’s offensive punch went up a notch with the addition of Dylan Talbot as a freshman member of their hockey program in 2011-12.  A forward, Talbot has played hockey since he was seven including 4 years with Prince William Hockey Club, as well as the current Virginia State Champion – Woodbridge Senior High School Vikings hockey team.  Dylan also played multiple years for the Little Caps, Junior Caps Virginia Statesmen and Potomac Patriots programs.

A freshman in computer engineering, Dylan looks forward to competing with George Mason in the Blue Ridge Hockey Conference for the next four years.

 

David Kautter

A forward, David Kautter joins the Patriots’ hockey team for the first time in 2011-12
with a strong local hockey resume. A former member of the Langley High School hockey team
and a four year member of the Reston Raiders’ AA team Kautter brings with him, a wealth of
experience and leadership skills, having served as Captain for both teams in multiple seasons.

A graduate student in International Commerce & Policy, David attended the University
of Tennessee – Knoxville for his undergraduate studies in business, philosophy & political
science. Since returning to the DC area, David has played in men’s league games at Kettler
Iceplex.

 

Jack MacLeod

Jack MacLeod comes to Mason hockey by way of Prince William Hockey Club, where he played for four seasons and also as a member (and Alternate Captain) of the Virginia State Hockey Champion Woodbridge Vikings Hockey team.

      A versatile player who can contribute as either a forward, or defenseman, MacLeod joins high school teammate Dylan Talbot in Mason’s line-up for the 2011-12 season as a freshman.  Majoring in physics, Jack will be a key contributor in what is expected to be a deeper and stronger Mason squad in the 2011-12 season.

Spencer Becker

A sophomore year transfer to George Mason University Hockey from the University of Denver in 2010, Spencer Becker returned to Northern Virginia to pursue his studies in Russian and Eurasian Studies while backstopping George Mason’s hockey team in a number of critical match-ups during the 2010-11season.  The Patriots were pleased to have Spencer return to the region where he had played for Hylton High School as well as for the Caps Junior B team and Central Penn Panthers Junior B programs.  With Spencer Becker as part of the team, the Panthers went onto place second in the nation in the National Championships.

In 2011, Spencer was married to Melissa Lynn Becker.  The Beckers are very excited about the birth of their first child, anticipated in the summer of 2011.

Matt McVay

George Mason University Hockey’s Matt McVay enters his 5th season with Mason, this time as a graduate student focusing in Sports & Business Management.

A member of the Patriots’ ice hockey team since attending George Mason, McVay has been part of the team’s leadership since his sophomore year.  He joined Mason’s hockey program after playing youth hockey with the Reston Raiders and was a member of the Robinson Rams NVSHL co-championship team with North Stafford in 2005.  McVay also played junior hockey with the Junior B Virginia Statesmen team and its successor, the Virginia Express.

Jacob Van Der Veen

A local native of the area, Jacob enters his senior year at George Mason University majoring in Information & Society.  A three year member of the Mason Hockey team, Jacob van der Veen has been active in the DC Metro hockey scene for a number o year siwth the Montgomery Blue Devils of the CBHL and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School team.

In addition to being a versatile player on the Mason team – playing both forward and defensive positions – Jacob is the President of Pi Kappa Pi Fraternity.  He continues to give back to the game of hockey by serving as Assistant Coach for the current Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School hockey program.

Aaron Holden

A Hingham, Massachusetts native, Aaron Holden will be entering his second season with Mason hockey in the 2011-12 season as he enters his sophomore year as a Communications (Journalism) major. A good golfer in addition to being a physical presence on the ice for Mason in both forward and defenseman positions, Aaron Holden provides the versatility as a player which coaches seek for their roster.

A member of the Hingham Division 1-A Massachusetts high school hockey championship team prior to joining Mason’s team in 2010, enabled him to take on dual roles for the Patriots’ hockey team in his first season by providing a strong shot from the point as a defenseman and a solid puck-moving and creative forward. Holden will be an important part of Mason’s balanced attack in the upcoming season.

Andrew Rudzinski

Andrew Rudzinski is a senior at George Mason University with a major in Engineering, having grown up in Northern Virginia. Rudzinski playing High School hockey for North Annandale and was also a member of the Prince William Hockey Club’s U-18 playoff club team in 2005 and 2007.  At 6’ 1” and 190 pounds, Andrew Rudzinski versatile player having played both as a left wing and defenseman for George Mason throughout the season and in key game situations.

Rudzinski previously attended Christopher Newport University where he played for the Captains prior to transferring to George Mason in 2009. hockey in Woodbury, Minnesota and played high school hockey for Fargo South High School in Fargo, North Dakota and played Varsity high school hockey there; playing in State Championship his junior year.  He returned to hockey again this year, 2010-2011 for George Mason University where he plays center for George Mason Patriots.

 

Kyle Luukkonen

Kyle Luukkonen from Chantilly, Virginia, headlines an increasingly strong defensive corps for George Mason’s hockey team. Luukkonen, who was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and lived in England for four years before finding his way to Virginia, is entering his junior year of Systems Engineering studies at George Mason in the fall of 2011.

In his first year with the team in 2010-11, Kyle Luukkonen was paired with a series of defensive partners against opponents’ top offensive line. His experience with the Reston Raiders AA Travel team and with the Chantilly High School varsity program provided significant value to the team and a steady hand on the blue line for the Patriots. He was also a member of the GMU Inline Hockey team during his freshman year at Mason.
